Peaches has been a member of BASI
since 1989

She has served as a volunteer on practically every program and event the center has sponsored for the duration of her membership.

To show appreciation for the boundless volunteer spirit Peaches brings to our Senior Center, BASI has made arrangements for
“A Day of Beauty” courtesy of the Tashi Deley Salon, the Sunrise Salon and Stan Swyden
of Christian Gavlik.

On the day of her choice she will be chauffeured by limousine to the salons for a massage, new hair “doo”, facial, manicure and a pedicure!

After all this, she will be treated to a relaxing luncheon at the restaurant of her choice in
Broken Arrow.

On April 8, 2009
Peaches will turn 92 years old
She's a peach with a heart...

The first annual BASI Volunteer Appreciation Banquet was held on Friday evening, February 20th, and was a grand affair!

Centennial Hall was packed wall to wall with one hundred and nineteen guests. The theme for the evening was Black Tie formal with a décor of white on black and crystal highlighted by candle light. One hundred and thirteen of those attending were BASI volunteers, many of them having served the Center since the day it opened in 1989. Linda Paul, harpist, entertained for the evening and opened the banquet with her rendition of “America The Beautiful”.

BASI Executive Director Sue Ann Ryan opened the event with introductions. BASI’s outgoing President, John Palkowski, gave the invocation and served as Master of Ceremonies for the evening. The Center’s new 2009 President, Stan Swyden of the Christian Gavlik Funeral Home, gave a “Message From The President” keynoting the highlights of what his vision for BASI’s upcoming year will be.

Our BASI Board of Directors and their spouses set the head table and the membership was honored by the presence of Broken Arrow’s Mayor J. Wade McCaleb and his lovely wife Enid.

Ms. Ryan and Mr. Palkowski presented the awards with the help of Mr. Swyden. Forty Seven Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to a group of lead volunteers. And last, but certainly not least, the evening concluded with the President’s Volunteer of the Year award presented to Alberta “Peaches” Johnson of Broken Arrow.

Thank You, everyone, for your involvement with BASI.
